Last minute getaway to Menorca for bank holiday weekend with my love!
It was so lovely to get some sunshine, eat until our hearts were content and drink cocktails and Sangria for 5 days 🙂 I think I could get used to this life..
We booked our flights with Monarch and stayed in apartments with traditional Mediterranean/Spanish decor in Son Bou which is in Alayor. We’ve been here before so knew exactly what to expect and the season was just getting started.
Menorca is a fairly small island so you can get around most of it via car or bus! Beautiful crystal clear water and dreamy coves and beaches. I’m glad we squeezed in so much whilst we were there..
We started on Son Bou beach as it was right on our doorstep.
I loved Son Bou beach, it’s around 3km long, beautiful white sand and has the best sunsets. The bays are magical in Menorca but can get very crowded, here you feel as though you have the beach to yourself out of peak season. There’s a lovely little beach bar & restaurant called Ses Grulles. They did quite possibly every drink & cocktail you could ask for, salads, pizzas, pasta, Mediterranean dishes & ice cream!!
Walking distance from our apartment and right next to the main town, shops, bars and restaurants.
When we first came to Cala Galdana a few years ago, this was my favourite location. Beautiful beach located on the south coast, you can kayak out to the caves and the most unreal yachts would come in to the bay here. It’s quite quiet here, ideal for familes & couples.
There’s a lovely little restaurant up on the cliffs where they serve food all day. We got breakfast here and then sunbathed in the bay all day. before taking a little adventurous wander to the other side of the cliffs & back to our car.
Mahon & Cova d’en Xoroi
Cala Macarella & Macarelleta
We took a long drive over to the South West side of Menorca and although it’s around 20 minutes walk along a track to access the beach, it was so worth it! We arrived to the most stunning shades of turquoise blue waters and white sand.
Cala Macarella is the main beach and understandably popular so by midday it was very busy! If you take a little hike up to the cliffs, you’ll come across a beautiful little bay hidden around the corner. The view from up here was just breathe taking!
